The Journey

Getting Here

A short flight, a shorter boat ride, and you are here.

You will fly into Panama City first, then catch a one-hour domestic flight to Bocas del Toro. Our team meets you at the Bocas airport with cold drinks and a car for your bags. The boat ride to the island is twenty minutes.

Step One

To Panama City

Panama City's Tocumen International Airport (PTY) is the gateway. Major US carriers fly direct from Miami, Houston, Atlanta, JFK, Newark, LAX, and Orlando. Copa Airlines, Panama's flag carrier, connects from most major Latin American and US cities and is our default recommendation. Panama is Copa's hub, which means more daily options and tighter onward timing for your connection to Bocas.

Step Two

The Transfer From Tocumen To Albrook

The domestic flight to Bocas leaves from Marcos A. Gelabert International Airport (PAC), in the Albrook district of Panama City. PAC and Tocumen are two different airports, roughly thirty to forty minutes apart by car. Plan for two to three hours between your international arrival and your Bocas departure. Let us know your itinerary and our team will arrange the transfer car, or an Uber works fine.

Step Three

To Bocas

From Albrook (PAC) to Bocas del Toro (BOC), it is a one-hour flight on Air Panama with multiple daily departures. The descent over the archipelago is a flight worth fighting for the window seat.

If you want to set your own arrival time, FlyTrip offers private charter service in Kodiak Quest 100s and Grand Caravans direct from Panama City. Let us know and we can arrange.

Step Four

To The Island

Our team meets you at the Bocas airport with refreshments and a smile. Bags loaded, you are escorted to the private boat at the dock. The ride is twenty minutes through calm Caribbean water and the mangrove pass that opens onto our island.

Practical

Traveling With Pets

Pets are welcome on the island. Panama requires a health certificate and a rabies vaccination certificate for entry. Most domestic flights to Bocas accept small pets in the cabin; charter is usually easier for larger animals. Let our team know in advance and we can handle the paperwork before you arrive.

Practical

A Quick Note On Visas

US, Canadian, EU, UK, and most South American passport holders enter Panama visa-free for tourist stays of up to 180 days. Your passport needs at least six months of validity remaining. If you hold a passport not on the standard list, let our team know and we can confirm requirements before you book.
